GERRY'S RESTAURANT AND BAR

GERRY’S RESTAURANT AND BAR | BACOLOD CITY

One of Manila’s famous and established restaurants is in Bacolod! Re-branded as Gerry’s Restaurant and Bar, they still serve house favorites that their place is known for. Owned by Manila businessman Gerry Apolinario, this restaurant became known in Manila back in the mid-90’s as Gerry’s Grill, serving favorite Filipino dishes cooked in big servings so families and friends can enjoy them. Gerry’s became a big hit that it opened other branches not only here in the Philippines but also in other parts of the world with 87 branches over-all, 6 of which are located abroad.

Gerry’s Restaurant and Bar 87th branch is located at the Ground Floor, North Wing SM City Bacolod. The new branch’s blessing was held last week where the ribbon cutting ceremony was done by the city’s Vice Mayor, El Cid Familiaran, and other guests from Manila. Some members of the Negros Bloggers and print media were there to witness the event.

Gerry’s Restaurant and Bar is spacious. It has a function room that can seat 50 guests comfortably. I like the ambiance as it seems good for after office- hours hang out or even just chilling out with family and barkada.  They have an open bar that is big enough for customers who love to drink and dine. Wooden furniture and the brick wall designs give a warm feel to the place.

Their house specialties include the soft and succulent Inihaw na Pusit, Crispy Pata and Crunchy Pork Sisig. They also have Blue Marlin Steak, Blue Marlin Belly, Inihaw na  Tuna Belly, Inihaw na Liempo, Chicken Kebab, Beef Kare-Kare, Crispy Tadyang and a lot more.

Since it was their blessing and opening, we had our tummies filled with their specialties and other Filipino favorites such as; Inihaw na Manok, Inihaw na Bangus, Pancit Palabok (Tagalog Style), Lumpia Shanghai, Pork Barbeque and Beef Caldereta.

After having our fill, Ms.Emmi Regalado (Store Manager) won’t let us leave without having a bite of their best seller—the Pork Sisig. With just a few drops of calamansi, I delightfully savored the taste of pork meat, liver and chicharon (crushed pork cracklings) in my mouth. What I like most about their Pork Sisig is that it is NOT oily.  Everything mixed in this dish is just right– oh, except for those who watch out for their cholesterol. But here’s good news to vegetarians, Gerry’s also offer Pinakbet, Itlog na Maalat/ Ensalada, Kilawin Puso ng Saging, Chopsuey, Laing with Tinapa and Sizzling Kangkong ala Pobre.
