Commuting through Bike? Yes, as part of Globe’s advocacy related to a sustainable environment, they are encouraging their employees to do bike commuting as an alternative option to transportation which will surely help reduce the carbon footprint.

Globe’s program which they called Bike2Globe hopes to promote awareness amongst its employees and the general public on the positive effects of biking to our environment. The bicycle apart from promoting a healthy lifestyle takes fewer resources to produce. Using the bike would even help in combating air and noise pollution making it a better alternative to cars.

Raymond Martin S. Aguilar, Globe Head for Operational Risk Management and Business Protection said, “It is Globe’s advocacy relative in addressing climate change to reduce our impact on the environment and promotes a low carbon future. Our company desires to extend this advocacy to our stakeholders, most especially our immediate employees. Of course one of the most effective and easiest ways to do it is by promoting the use of our bikes.

Apart from the UN Sustainable Development Goal 13 on Climate Change, Bike2Globe likewise supports UN SDG 11 on making cities inclusive, resilient, safe, and most especially sustainable through access to a sustainable and affordable mode of transportation.

During the launch of Bike2Globe, the National Bike Organization lead a forum for the employees of Globe on bike and road safety. Part of the activity of the launching was a motorcade organized around different stations within Bonifacio Global City where the Globe headquarters is located. Several bicycle merchandise, survival kit products, and Project1Phone eWaste bin Booths were also set up during the event.

Globe also provides several e-bikes for employees not having their own bikes which they can use around the area whenever they have work-related errands.All E-bikes provided were equipped with an electric motor and pedal power which can be operated manually when the battery runs out. Just like the regular bikes, e-bikes are affordable. Moreover, they are a reliable mode of transportation which do not emit harmful chemicals into the environment.
